Any savings accounts accepting BACS or Direct Debits?

Options
I want start piggy banking and allocating funds monthly to different accounts (like car, holidays, christmas and savings etc) but want to do this by setting up direct debits or standing orders to pay into the savings accounts.
I have an alliance and leicester premier direct (not the super rate new one, but the poor rate old one!) and a premier saver and direct saver and i thought that they would accept regular payments from my current account as they are 'linked' accounts but they dont, i have to manually make the payments by bill payment each month (meaning i will forget accidently on purpose)

I have just applied for a bradford and bingley e saver and it said on there that it would accept dd from a linked account but i havent got the paper work through yet

does anyone have any idea about what accounts i can make automatic payments to and from i need about 4 and because they are for funds for specific things, im not really bothered about the interest rate

Have a look at the Halifax High interest current account (6.17%). Needs £1k pm funding ..... but you can do that by SO out of the account - then immediately back into it .... if you wish.
No concept of 'linked accounts' there .... so you can move money around fairly freehand. If your really not interested in the rates .... you can simply open up to 5 of their Websavers (a fairly poor 4.61% currently) and SO direct into them. Immediate transfer now ..... as transfers to external accounts will be once 'faster payments' arrives end May.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • I have a series of Halifax savers as piggy banks and the one with the cashcard is currently paying 5.75% while the one's without cashcards are only paying 4.61%. They do work quite well for transfers but you can't use them for Direct Debits, or at least I don't think you can.

i dont mind whether it is a standing order or a direct debit, it just needs to be automatic, that i can set it up and then forget about it. i know that if i have to do it manually by bill payment, it wont get done
