Either forward it to another address or buy email hosting as a minimum. Don't know whether 123reg offer email only hosting. If you buy webhosting (e.g. if you plan on making website etc) then email/pop3 hosting is usually included.

• https://www.heart-internet.co.uk will allow you to purchase the domain, and provide you with free hosting which includes webmail.

This is one of many hosting companies that provide this service, I'm only mentioning them because that's who I'm with, but I pay for an upgraded account.

The control panel at 123 allows e-mail and webforwarding, so it's ideal.

Once purchased you can login and forward mai lfrom yourname@yoursurname.co.uk (or whatever . domain you choose) to whatever your ISP e-mail address is e.g. Butlers1982@myisp.co.uk

You can have 100 or more names@yoursurname.co.uk all forwarded to different addresses, and you can also set-up a "catch-all" so anything@yousurname.co.uk will be forwarded to your specified address.

You can change the reply address and your email address in Outlook to appear as yourname@yoursurname.co.uk, but still actually picking the mail up from your ISP, all 123-reg are doing is forwarding it to the right mailbox.

If you don't have an ISP e-mail you can also buy POP boxes from 123, but you'll always need a server to send mail from, and if you have broadband or dialup from an ISP, you are bound to have an ISP e-mail address, so that is the best way IMO.

You could also setup a Google Mail / GMail account and forward mail to that. Many options and combinations.
• You get pop mailboxes free at heart-internet ;) a fancy control panel, and free web hosting. You just pay for the domain, which is competitively priced.

The only catch is the monthly bandwidth if you want to host a website, it's capped at 100MBs, but if you just want email it doesn't matter.

It is possible to use your Hotmail email with Outlook, I have it set up.

With Microsoft Office Outlook Connector, you can use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 to access and manage your Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail or Microsoft Office Live Mail accounts, including e-mail messages and contacts for free!

• Of course this could be rumor (rumour?) but hasn't Microsoft decided that it will kill Outlook Express support for Windows Live Hotmail at the end of June

Windows Live Mail supports Windows Live Hotmail just fine. I understand the reason for this change is something to do with the protocol Outlook Express uses to access Windows Live Hotmail, Distributed Authoring and Versioning protocol (DAV), being replaced.
If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!
