Help needed re Doctors letters - is this the right place?

Can anyone ask their GP for a letter outlining their state of health. I know the GP would probably charge but not sure how much?
It is not for insurance or job seeking purposes but to have as proof for a separate matter which I would rather not go into right now.
But any help would be really good.

i would phone your gp surgery and ask the receptionist - i am not sure there is a national rate for letters - i looked on google and an article came up with a letter for £14 - hope that helpsThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

My doctor charges £8, I think they can charge whatever they want as long as it is reasonable.
As to whether they would, it really depends on the reason why the letter is required. The GP will bare in mind the relevance of your health to the situation, and their own potential liability.Gone ... or have I?0
