Tiscali Phone Compensation

Hi all, just over a week ago my overhead phone line was broken in two by the council contractors vehicles. I had incoming calls diverted to my mobile but can I get compensation for my outgoing calls and the inconveniance I've had to put up with. My line rental is with Tiscali.

It's got to be worth trying. They must have public liability insurance.

I got fed up with a pole supporting a parking restriction sign leaning at about 20% over the footpath near my house so e-mailed the council reporting the accident which occurred when I stepped to the outside of the path to allow a lady with a pushchair to pass and banged by head on the post.

They fell over themselves - taking photographs the next morning and having workmen on site to cut the post down hours later.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I would be more concerned as to who is going to pay the bill to put the overhead line back up as this does not come under your line rental maintenance contract. Openreach will have put it back up but surely will bill Tiscali.
The council's insurers should pay, have you broached this subject? Then you could negotiate an extra sum as compensation for no O/G calls.

Iv'e been offerd £20 compensation from Tiscali, which I might add, was not taken off my last bill, and i was charged calls to my mobile from my disconected land line, at the time it was disconected. Great how do they work that one out.
