Moving to Australia - What do we need to know? Please help

Thanks everyone for the advice. Hazelmere1 we are looking at Brisbane. My husband has relatives that live just on the Gold Coast and I have relatives that live in Darwin....They were over here for a wedding last weekend and we quizzed them aswell. I will need a spouse visa and the children will probably also need. Although I am still trying to find this out for sure. It's a long way to go but we just can't stay here anymore....
Originally from South Africa this will hopefully be our final move! We don't see our family very often so home sickness will probably not affect us as much as others. Good Luck to everyone moving to Australia!
For God knew in His great wisdom
That he couldn't be everywhere,
So he put His little Children

Dont bother buying books of Amazon... I bought one and most of the info was a load of cobblers... register with a forum as someone else said, I used Britishexpats.com personally.
One money saving tip I can give you: if you are shipping belongings dont take out the shippers own insurance, use a company called Letton Percival as they are far cheaper and offer exactly the same service! (you can google them)
Good luck0 -
We emigrated nearly a year ago. I hold a Kiwi passport, and am my OH's sponsor.
We live in Melbourne.
If you have any specific questions I would be more than happy to help. I don't know your situation but I have found it to be lonely at times. We don't have kids and both work in industries in which there is a high turnover of staff, so it has been difficult to meet people. Don't let that put you off - we do have friends and as a poster above had said we have much more disposable income here to get out and do things. I don't regret out move at all. Prices, for the majority of things, are cheaper although I'd disagree with the statement that clothes are cheaper in Oz.
The food is fantastic and there is so much to see and do.
As I said, feel free to ask any questions. Best of luck with the move.0
