Hello! I am about to move into a lovely flat but cant afford to get the tiling in bathroom done.Expecting a baby soon so need to keep cost to a minimum. The bathroom is covered in dark green tiles.whats the best way to cover them? Can I paint them a light colour or can you get something else to go over them as it just darkens the room and it already lacks light due to no window. Any advise gratefully received! xxx

for a quick fix you can buy tile paint from most hardware stores.0

Biggie is right, you can get Tile Paint. However, an application of tile/melamine primer will be as good, and then you can paint it with your choice of colour. Tile paint is pricey and limited in colours, but if you do the primer/top coat, you can choose a myriad of colours. However, whatever you opt to do, painted tiles is really only a temporary and short term fix. Even when well applied, it still peels after a number of months. Might be worth living with it and getting it retiled when you have saved up a bit of cash.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

The tile paint is pretty successful, but a bit of a bu££er to apply. It's a bit thick and if the tiles aren't absolutely spotlessly clean, it won't stick.
My D.I.L. painted her kitchen tiles quite a few years ago and they are still looking pretty good, so it's hard wearing. She gave her tiles a quick rub down with white spirit first ..bit smelly but does the job.0 -
I once painted over 'lovely' avocado green tiles with a white tile paint and it came put pretty well TBH. But like the others have said - they must be spotless and it's also a neater finish if you apply it with a small roller with a sponge head. You might get away with a big brush but you may see brush strokes too.
B&Q do a small selection of colours of International and (I think ) Ronseal tile paint. Wilkos do some (cheaper than B&Q) but a limited colour choice.
Or if you go for retiling as an option remember that you can just re-tile over the existing ones if they are 'sound', again just give them a good clean first.
HTH and good luck!
