Travel insurance - backpacker or multi-trip cover?

I have been backpacking for a while now (2 years...) and need to renew my travel insurance for the last month of my trip.
I have been doing some comparisons using the article on this site looking at annual cover as I am hoping to head off and see some of my new found buddies across Europe in the next 12 months.
Thing is, I can get multi-trip cover for a year for about 30 quid, but it rockets to about 130 quid if I take out backpacker cover instead.
Is this just because of the 'your trip can't be for more than 30 days' (or similar) clause in the multi-trip cover?
If so, given that the rest of this trip is less than 30 days and I don't plan to be away for longer than that at any one time for the rest of the year, is there any reason why I should choose the backpacker cover over the multi-trip?
Or will the fact that I am already on my trip affect things??
Confused!

I don't see a problem with this but the insurers do. I would ring a company and ask them (or get someone in the UK to do it). The fact that you are already on your trip may make a difference.
Can you get 1 month backpacker cover and then pick up annual cover once you are home? I'm sure insure and go do backpacker cover for any length of time.0
