Domain Hosting - Transfering

I am currently with Freeola.com and my domain is now up for renewal. Freeola wants £17 p/y for renewal as I currently have a couple of domain names already registered with them.
Anyway the reason i want to change is that although i am not a highend user - use simple MS frontpage websites - the only way I can send emails using the freeola account is if i am connected to freeola using their broadband or dial up connection which proves to be such a pain and "who uses dial up these days"
I want an account that is competative aswell as allowing me to access my POP3 email accounts (send aswell as receive) from anywhere (using my mobile) currently i can only receive on my mobile 5 device and not send using the freeola add. So frustating.
COuld someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance

www.one.com for their basic package apart from the domain fees the hosting is free
if you go via quidco they seem to appear as both B-One and also One.com GB, I ended up with both cookies on my PC and £20(£10 +£10) cashback for a single hosting plan that was free anyway. Only paid for my domain renewal in the end. Smooth transfer, website was down for a few hours as nameservers updated. Email works ok via mobile or webmail, or Pop3 if you wish0 -
You should be able to send and receive from third party POP accounts, but you need to ensure your ISP is left in the SMTP server , and just change the collection POP3 server to the webhost's server.
Most webhosting companies provide you with POP3 addresses, but do not allow you to send mail via there servers, so you have to send it via your ISPs.
Have a look at www.123-reg.co.uk and www.one-and-one.co.uk0 -

Thanks Isofa - as you mention i can currently receive the emails from freeola but would like to just hit reply on my pda phone and send a response using the same email address. do 123 reg and one and one offer this service or like many others i have searched do you have to be actually connected to their service in order to access their mail out severs.
Sorry my technical know how is limited. I just want a simple in and out service that i can use from my pda phone- hotmail works a dream but its not very professional when you send emails from your hotmail account.
Thanks once again0 -
What you need to do on Outlook, or the device sending (phone etc) is use the ISP server as the outgoing server, but collect from the webhost POP server. Obviously making sure the reply address is the correct one when you compose an e-mail.
Say your ISP (or mobile phone company) has these servers:
Outgoing (SMTP) - smtp.isp.co.uk
Incoming (POP3) - pop.isp.co.uk
And your webspaces POP3 account server is:
pop.webspace.co.uk
On your phone (or in outlook etc), for the webspace POP account the servers need to be:
Outgoing (SMTP) - smtp.isp.co.uk
Incoming (POP3) - pop.webspace.co.uk
The account login needs to be that of the webspace POP account.
I.e. you are using your ISP to send the mail (this is pretty standard) but the webhost to collect the special pop-box mail.
Also have a look at GoogleMail / GMail as their free server offers all sorts of flexibility.0 -
I too had a domain name with freeola a few years ago. I decided to host it with another company as it was a pain to dial up via freeola. So as the domain name was coming up for expiry, freeola would email me urging me to renew it with them. It's not one of those must-have domain names, so rather than renewing with them, or paying the fee for them to transfer to to another provider, I decided to wait until the domain expired, and then register it afresh. But after expiry, when I tried to register it, I found that freeola had kept hold of it, and offered to sell it to me for £70! I walked away.
Maybe not illegal, but certainly not ethical, so I advise all newcomers to stay away from freeola. And if you already have domain names with them, it's best to pay their transfer fee. Please use OpenDocument (ISO 26300) format (.odt - .ods - .odp - .odg) for attachments0
