Credit card refund - not my own

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Is it possible to have a refund put onto a card which is not mine? I have been having a bit of trouble buying a product and the shop is a long way from home (2 hour motorway journey round trip) OH hates driving but he took me to the shop in the first place and bought the product on his credit card. He then took me back a week later to return the item and get a replacement again onto his credit card. The item is still not right and so I need to go back to the shop again. OH says he will not go.

Now I am happy to get the train to the shop but would they refund the money back onto OH's credit card without him being there? I have the receipts and I know his PIN. I really don't want store credit as the shop is just too far away.

    its up to the shop
usually they insist on refunding the card the original purchase was made on and they normally like it present.
However, I have arranged a refund over the phone and to a different card..

Just don't show them the card? If they try and take it say 'the whole point of chip and pin is so I don't have to give assistants my card, I can put it in the machine myself' :-P

Don't want to be a sour puss here but what you are contemplating in the eyes of the law is illegal, stupid as it sounds as he's your husband.

Ring the company up and explain that your husband is unable to come with you this time but it was purchased on his card.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

Now, I don't know for sure, but I think you would get away with this.

Many places now don't even look at the card and you, the customer, just put it in the machine and enter the PIN.

Unless a nosey store assistant looked at the card and deduced that you were not the correct gender, then there shouldn't be a problem.

My incling is that it would be OK with Chip & PIN.

At Millets over the weekend a customer in fron tof me was turned away when they were asking for a refund to a card that was not theirs.

I think they were upfront though saying, my wife bought it this is her card I know the PIN please can you refund.

Thanks for replies - it is strange how cards work. I will give them a call later to see what they will do. My thinking is I am putting money onto the card - not taking money off it - surely if I was a theif I would not put money onto cards! The worst part is the credit account is joint so I have a card for the same account but forgot my pin so he had to use his!
