London Help.....Hotel Needed

The Mrs and I are off to London in May to see a westend show and need a hotel to stay at.....we are driving down from Manchester so we need somewhere with parking (or close by parking).

We dont mind staying on the outskirts of London (Zone 3,4,5 etc) and also dont mind something like the premier travel inn or a bog standard travel lodge

Any recommendations from anyone who knows London way better than I do !

Thanks

  • firstly i'd check the train fares as it will probably be cheaper and more convenient than driving.

Yeah - looked at train costs - £65each from Manc to London as its half term

I have a company car so driving is not a problem for me.

Looking into it further I may drive down to one of the london underground car parks (zone 2 or 3) and leave it there as its fairly cheap and I think you can leave it there for 24 hours (or more) as well (unless told otherwise)

Hi I live in Watford, Hertfordshire and see that the Travel Lodge in watford is doing rooms for £29 per night during the May half term. The only prob would be that there is only the car park nearby to park your car and that can work out expensive. It is just by the shopping centre and nightlife (lots of club, bars, restaurants and great shopping in Watford). It is a few minutes from Juntion 5 of the m1. The train station is a 5 minute walk away on the sliverlink line, you go on this line to Harrow wealdstone and change onto the Bakerloo tube line which goes to Paddington, Oxford Circus etc. If the theatre is near the Jubillee tube station, then Stanmore station is about a 20 min drive away and parking is £2 for the day. There are other travel lodges nearer London, but sometimes the area is not that good (high crime rate) or central to other ammenities/travel options. Watford is in zone 8 and a one day travel card to use all on trains and buses for zones are £13.10 off peak. Check http://www.tfl.gov.uk for train transfers.
