How to assign a new drive letter?

My external hard drives had to be disconnected from the pc during a room move and now the pc is up and running again, the external drives have different letters for some reason. My 'F' drive is now my 'H' drive and it means all the associated progs that are set to look for files on a particular drive are now not working.
This happened once before and I re-assigned the drive letter back to what it was originally but I now cant remember how I did that.
Help please?

XP?
Start > Settings >Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management
Then highlight Disk Management under the Storage section (left hand pane)
Now right click the drive(s) in the right hand pane you wish to change, selecting "Change Drive Letter and Paths".0 -
I believe it is in control panel, then administrative tools, computer management, then disk management. You be able to reassign a drive letter in there.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0

Thanks v. much. That's exactly what I did last time.
Just done it again and it tells me the drive is not accessible and may be corrupted.
I changed the drive back to what it was to see if it made any difference but I still get the same message. Got a horrible feeling I've lost all the stuff on the drive now.Herman - MP for all!
