Kaupthing Edge Paying In

I spoke to customer services yesterday to clarify the situation about paying in from a non linked account.

Initially CS said that all transfers must be done from the linked account. However, when I let CS know that I had read of customers successfully paying in from non linked accounts, they said that it is possible to do this; but payment may not be accepted as checks are done because of money laundering concerns/regulations.
So the payment in from a non linked account might be accepted, delayed or refused. Whereas from a linked account its normally accepted no problem.

I have now had two transfers from a non-linked account (Egg) accepted by Kaupthing on the third day after sending it (Monday to Wednesday). I wonder what checks they need to do? Perhaps it depends on the size of the transfer.

How do drug dealers and other felons get sizeable amounts of cash into any account? Presumably they don't buy everything (houses and cars) with cash!

CS told me that money from a non linked account is diverted to a "back room" for checking. As I intend to deposit £35K, I will to do it via the my linked account as no doubt if a check is going to happen (meaning a delay or refusal), it will happen with 35K.

That is unless anyone else has transfered a similar amount from a non linked account and had no problems?

Yes, I transfered £33 from a non-linked account (but account under my name) with no issue, and CS told me on the phone it was possible to pay in from non-linked account.

I think they tell some people it is not possible because probably less trouble/work for them...
