If like me you dont use BT for your call you will be fimiliar with this BT scam .They phone and say "I see your call usage has gone down is there a pariticular reason for that ". They know dam well I dont use BT thats why they phone .These are sales calls in disguise .
Now how do I stop them phoning . I am well able to deal with BT's calls but My parents are 81 years old and are getting these calls from BT .My parents think they have done something wrong ,and get upset when BT phone .
Any suggestions on this would be welcome .

or register for BT Privacy here and make sure you include the selection for tps registration.
Well, it's supposed to stop 'unwanted sales calls'...0 -

As someone with elderly parents myself, I am sorry to hear that your parents are being upset by these calls.
If you have asked them to stop calling and they continue to call, I am sure they are committing some sort of offence, ask them to stop again and make it clear that you will make a complaint to ofcom if the calls continue.
I've been registered with TPS for many years and have never had any calls of this type from BT - despite not using BT for calls for years. It might be worth ringing TPS to check that your registration is actually still in effect.
Hope you get this sorted out, it's not right.0 -
If I remember correctly BT got told off by OfCOM for doing this when people use CPS.
I suggest that next time they ring that you state that you are going to OfCOM about these unwanted sales type calls just because you use other alternative call carriers.
Also, as mentioned earlier, register for BT Privacy including TPS.0 -
When BT accounts are opened, they ask the question .. do you mind if we call you blah blah blah'. This is asked of everyone and if they don't ask it, they're not doing their jobs properly on customer service.
All you have to do is call 150 and ask them to change the indicator from 'yes, you will accept calls' to 'no, you do not wish to have calls'.
There is no need for anyone to threaten people with Ofcom .. half of the staff don't even know the Ofcom rules and the other half cannot individually be held accountable for what BT does!
Try calling 150, don't press any buttons or if you have the option of 'make a complaint', then do that one.
Good luck.

Now if they do continue the calls even though you have asked them not to and have threatened to take it further with OfCOM then I'd then make an official complaint to OfCOM.0
