White spirit in Dishwasher!

Options
Not exactly OS, but don't know what to do! My missus managed to put a cup that was used to clean my paint brushes in!

I've run through the dishwasher loads of times on empty with tabs in, but it still smells strong of white spirit and anything I put in has a nice white spirit smelly film over it!

Any suggestions on what I can do??

You can try bio washing powder and select a cool wash program.

I did much the same with paint brush cleaner recently, and while the washing powder didn't provide total and instant success - it made a great improvement.

I continued doing actual washes with bio powder for a week and I'm still alive to tell the tale :)

Not sure if this would help but how about putting a couple of lemons, quatered in then put it through a hot wash! Will this make it worse not sure. You could put them in the cutlery holder or even in a little mesh bag like what you use in washing machine.
Just done a google search one site suggested putting 1 cup of distilled vinegar in machine then run hottest program, doesn't mention white spirit but worth a try.
Also you can put a bag of washing soda in a bowl in the machine and run the hot program or rub machine out with a paste of Bicarbonate of Soda
One suggestion to neutralise the smell of white spirit on clothing was to put vodka in a spray bottle and spray onto clothes, might be worth a try if you got a tiny bottle of it.

I've seen vinegar as advice on removing the smell from washers/clothes so might help with dishwashers....

Regardless it's a solvent so I'd personally keep runnin hot cycles through for a while to make sure it doesn't attack anything in the dishwasher. Clean the filters too as they can harbour smells.

You can get a 'dishwasher cleaner' which is pretty strong stuff, Asda sell it but the Aldi version is cheaper, little bottles, it's got soem manky stains and smells off mine when we first moved in.
One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks all, I've run 10 consecutive hot washes on the trot (might not be too good for the machine, but thought it may keep it hotter!), still there. I'll pop in to Aldi tomorrow and get the cleaner.

    I'll keep you posted!
