No Claims Bonus for a named driver

I have been a named driver on my wifes car insurance for 10 years and she has full NCB. I am trying to get insurance in my own name but our present insurer says they cannot provide proof of NCB for me but they can for my wife. Consequently I effectively have no NCB. Is there any way round this?

Directline let additional drivers build up NCD.

This will start from scratch though now if your wife takes out a policy with you as a named driver.

Parents use this method to get some NCD for their children when they are starting out.

Try www.quinn-direct.co.uk, they accept named driver's NCBs

you need to remember that you can only use it whilst with direct line, ie if you have been named on a policy with them for 4 years they will give you 1 years named driver bonus, but if you dont claim for the first 12 months and leave direct line they will only give evidence of years no claims bonus - basically its a tactic to keep you with them at least until you have been claim free for the same number of years you were a named driver
