OEIC/UT Question - What does "CF" in the name mean?

Options
Not really of any great importance, but I've noticed that there are an awful lot of funds with names starting with CF :confused: CF Ruffer European as a random example I happened to be looking at. Can anyone explain what it signifies?

Cheers :)

    CF stands for Capita Financial Managers Ltd.

    They have bought a large number of fund houses over the years and rather than merge them under one umbrella like others have, they tend to keep the old name going but add CF in front of it.

    Yes

    They seem to like keeping the 'olde' firms appearing to be independant, so J.M Finn can appear to be one of the old establishment stockbrokers, and Ruffer can keep their 'quaint' website going.

    What often confuses investors is that different publications and websites sometimes list the funds with the CF prefix, whilst others don't which makes researching the funds irritatingly complicated.

  • Good question, I don't think they are taking over the investment houses, more like an outsourcing deal for the mundane administration.

    This allows the smaller boutique fund managers to get on with the investment business, presumably for lower cost.

    If you look at Eclectica;

    ACD
    Capita Financial Managers Ltd is the Authorised Corporate Director.

    Investment Manager
    Eclectica Asset Management LLP, authorised and regulated by FSA.

    Administrator
    Capita Financial Administrators Limited.

    If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?
