TomTom One v3 map query

I have a TomTom One V3 UK/ROI. Can I download a map of western europe onto it?

If you mean TomTom One 3rd Edition, then the answer is "probably not". According to the TomTom website it says:-
"IMPORTANT: Some versions of the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition have limited internal memory. Before purchasing a map that may be too big, please connect your device to TomTom HOME to check how much memory is available on your device."

I have one of these devices and it only has 512MB internal memory. The Western Europe map's size is 875MB. Your only option is to purchase seperate country maps. e.g. France (238MB), Italy (186MB), Spain&Portugal (183MB). However, these are £39.95 each as opposed to Western Europe @ £59.95.

Hi Bagpuss741,

On some models of TomTom, you will need to ensure that your memory or memory card has enough space on it to cope as its about 900MB for the map.
You should be able to see how much space you have available on your SD card or memory via TomTom Home or via Windows Explorer if your TomTom is plugged into your PC. (I was able to pick up a cheap SD card with a couple of GBonline - if your device has a suitable expansion slot). If your TomTom has no card slot then ensure it has sufficient space on its internal memory - according the the website the v3 is fitted with either 512 MB / 1 GB.

For safety back up your existing TomTom to your PC using TomTom Home **before** you try anything as I have had problems when updating maps.

If downloading from TomTom's site you'll need the latest version of TomTom Home installed on your computer and once you download your new map you may have to go into the menus of your TomTom device to tell it to use the new map instead of the old one.

alternatively, backup your device, and restore to a NEW 2 gig card, which then has lost of space for maps....

If you could!! The 3rd edition only has 512mb of internal memory and no SD card slot.
