Cheapest way to 'hire' a car for two months?
Options
My first post, so Hello all!
My wife's due our first baby later in the year
. We don't have a car, so I'd like to hire a car for a couple of months around the time of birth.
Anybody got any ideas about the cheapest way to do this? Would leasing be cheaper than hiring?
Thanks in advance....

I would buy an old banger for about 2 or 3 hundred quid provided it had an MOT some road fund licence. After a couple of months, hopefully break down free, sell it and try to recoup your initial outlay.
I have done this so I speak from experience.

I would buy a cheapie too. Hiring is gonna cost 25 - 30 / day and leasing is normally only long term. Have you not got a relative with a second car they can lend?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Keep your eye out on hotukdeals.co.uk and Hertz.
There was an offer (looks like it has ended now though) for really cheap hire.
Someone got a 2 month rental for £160!
Hopefully it will be repeated in your area.

while i agree with the mse sentiment, lets be honest the absolute last time you want to have an old banger is with a pregnant wife or baby.
for £600-800 you should be able to pick up an old e-class merc or volvo, they will have high milage and suck petrol but should be a lot simpler to shift and more importantly reliable/safe0
