NCB after 1st year?

Hi,

im just looking for new car insuance. was quoted 343 pounds by my current company,(200excess) got a quote from confused.com for 269 (no excess) foned my insurance company and the dropped my original quote to 265 (200 excess still). Im still trying to beat it, although its more than half of last years quote....oh and i dont paticually want the excess lol! (insurance is 3rd party, fire and theft)

but, what i want to know i stareted driving last year, and have no points, claims etc so 1 year no claims. ive ben told i cant protect these yet, as you have to have 4years. Is this right or is it certain companies etc??
