Is my cat fed up of food?!

Hi All,

I'm a little bit worried about my cat, but before I get ripped off by my vet, I thought I'd ask some of the cat owners out there if their cat has ever done this:

I've been at home all day today and my cat has been "sick" 3 times. Once was a hair ball - I think! The other 2 times have been his breakfast - don't want to make anyone feel sick but it's come out looking the same way it did when it went in.

He's very quiet and subdued today...should I just put him on biscuits for a while and stay off the meat?

Mine will do it sometimes - sometimes it's a furball, sometimes it's food that didn't agree with him. He's supposed to be on a special diet but has other ideas sometimes!

Personally, I'd just keep an eye on him today and see how he is - if he is still being sick tomorrow then it's a vet job IMO. But I'd just like to stress that's what I'd do with my cat as I know he has the odd problem.

You could also try a different food for him - when mine goes off his special food he seems OK on the cheapish tuna sachets you can get from Pets at Home - 4 for £1 - as they don't contain cereal.

At this time of year it's probably fur balls....

If you can bear to check the litter tray (IYKWIM):eek: you should be able to see if he's been "passing" hair

Try liquid parrafin in a little syringe, just drip it into the side of his mouth giving him time to swallow, you don't want him to choke!

Add water to his tinned/pouch food...keeps everything moving if he's a bit blocked up inside.

And if he's not looking better in a couple of days( and stopped chucking up) get him checked over at the vets.

I used to have a cat who groomed her son and daughter all her life and the dogs, she used to get horrendous furball problems, needless to say they didn't! She and her son died within a couple of days of each other last year and this year her daughter has furball sickies for the first time ever:rolleyes:

There is food designed to help furballs go through but it is expensive and I don't know if it works?

Thanks for that guys...he's currently curled up on the chair next to the radiator and has been eyeing up my food...so he can't be that bad.
I'm guessing it's furrballs mostly because he never stops grooming...even though I brush him twice a week.

Hi, I have an 11 year old cat who has thrown up all her life if you put down a "normal" size portion!!

It's just something we've got used to now, we feed her the sachets, and she has 2 a day + biscuits but she has to have it little and often (and I mean a few chuncks of meat and a sprinkle of biscuits).

If she scrounges food of my DD and then an unknowing me, it comes straight back up. She is ALWAYS sick 3 times, so when we stand in one pile, we know to look for the other two! ha ha ha

She is extremely healthy and only ever goes to the vet for her injections (can't remember the last time she was actually ill).
