Showhome Visit

We went to look at a development near us yesterday, not long started about 10-12 weeks maybe. We are decorating so wanted a few ideas, plus it's near my DSs school so I also wanted to see what kind of houses they had, never been in a three story townhouse so I was curious to have a nose.

One couple in the sales office when we arrived (they were just leaving) so we had a look at their site plan. They have released 22 plots and reserved 4 and the sales lady told us they are already selling fast and she has been rushed off her feet. We arrived at about 12.30pm and left at gone 2pm! The bloomin woman wouldn't let us leave, she insisted on getting keys for 'finished' houses we could look at and dragged us all over the unbuilt site showing us housetypes. At the end she told us to go back in and look at the showhome again and while we were in there DH said - it is quite tempting isn't it

In all the time we were there (and when we popped back later :o I always forget something) no one else even drove past the sales office.
So, they obviously have a new tactic- you can't leave until you sign something!

I found after 20 + years in new homes that weekdays rarely saw any visitors to the showhouses in good or bad selling times. Saturday a few and Sunday was the main day.

If you want to be left alone, dismissed, ignored, treated with disdain and pretty much just thrown off the site, try going in wearing jeans and a loose top, no makeup on and present yourself as a single female with no kids.

    :)

I never get taken seriously as a buyer of anything.

    It's like you're scum.

So you're a self-admitted time-waster "curious to have a nose" visiting a new development at a time when all real buyers are hiding under their sheets - and you're surprised that you got pounced on?

Heavens sake! It's only surprising they didn't tie you up, feed you sodium pentathol then force you to sign a mortgage application on the spot!

Well they may of had a stampede just before or after you went. Surely you should realise all statements made by sales staff are to be trusted 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
