NTL +603 number?

I couldn't make or receive calls from my home phone this afternoon for some reason.
I just managed to dial my mobile successfully from my home phone and it showed the incoming call as a +603........ number. Not my home number at all!
Anyone got any ideas?
...and then the window licker said to me...

What is happening is that they are routing your calls to your mobile phone via a device known as a SIM box. Rather than paying the youtr mobile operator lets say 6p per minute they route it to this device which is loaded up with SIMs from your mobile network and those SIMs then call your phone. This is a lot cheaper for them since they will buy SIMs offering low priced on-net calls.

The downside is that CLI is totally corrupted as you have identified and also their is typically huge congestion problems around the cell site where the SIM box is based. In summary - you get what you pay for!!
