Updating Favorites Problem

Hi, Just wondering whether anyone knows the answer to this query.

I have a laptop that my hubby set up for me and it has XP set up on it. On my old computer when I pressed an MSE thread from my favorites menu, it gave me the thread up-to-the-minute. On this laptop if I want the thread up-to-the-minute I have to press 'refresh.' Does anyone know how I can set it up so I don't have to constantly refresh the page once I've selected it from my favorites menu?

Hoping someone can help, thanks, qwiksave

It sounds like your browser is caching (saving) a copy of the page when you view it and rather than download a new version it is just showing the old version that you viewed earlier.

What browser are you using? i'm assuming its internet explorer but I want to be sure!
If you go into the help menu and then "about" it should tell you the name and version of your browser e.g Internet Explorer 7.

Thanks for replying, just found it. It is Internet Explorer version 6 and it does sound like what you said above (caching). Any idea what to do?

  • Go to Tools, Internet Options, General.

Under Browsing history select settings, and check the option:

"Every time I visit the web page"

I think that should do it.
