I placed an order for a Mini DivX DVD Player on 02/02/08.
I was then told after the order that it wasn't in stock but i would be told when it was back in.
I received an email from Maplin on 07/02/08 saying it was back in stock.
I emailed on 27/02/08 to see why i hadn't received my order.
Finally got a reply on 05/03/08 saying the item wouldn't be back until April!
I replied on 06/03/08 to say this wasn't acceptable and could the matter be passed on to a senior member of staff.
No reply by 11/03/08 so emailed again!
No reply by 19/03/08 so emailed again!!
No reply by 27/03/08 so emailed again!!!
No reply by 09/04/08 so emailed again!!!!
I called them and was told goods would be in stock w/c 14/04/08 and there was nothing else they could do. The operative was very unhelpful!
I accepted that and decided to wait even though i was originally promised delivery within 28 days and had now waited 67!!
I received an email on 19/04/08 to tell me that the item will now not be back in stock until the second week of May.
I have again emailed today (21/04/08) to say that this is unacceptable and i want my money back.
Where do i stand on getting any form of recompense against them as they have had my money for 79 days without fulfilling the order?
It seems a bit of a cop out on their side if all they do is refund my money and i now have to go looking for another good deal on the Mini DIVX player.

You could have cancelled the order on 6/3 when you were told it wouldn't be avaliable till april.
You left it for 20 days after being told it was in stock and contacting them when it didn't arrive.
You took over a month of no reply to emails before phoning them.
You could try claiming 79days interest on the purchase price buy I suspect you will have no joy.0 -

To be honest i was giving them every opportunity to try to get the item to me by giving them time and i accepted to first put back until April but to further put it back to May now seems ridiculous.
I mean its not as if they are a corner shop with limited stocks!!0 -

DONT MAKE ME LARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRF. they say its out of stock coz u decided to leave it 3 weeks before responding so other folk bought it. THEN u have the cheek to complain because you couldnt be bothered to request the item when it was back in stock?? they waited for u to give the go ahead or say u wanted a refund, but u decided to ignore them.

since your 3 week later response, they prolly put ur email on block.you dont deserve compensdation, they told u what was what and u decided to play by your own rules, especting them to give u a product they had sold out of. wait for a refund and move on. i dont see them ever giving you the item.
Actually the email they sent was automated and not linked into my order so they weren't waiting for my go ahead.
After ordering and seeing the item was out of stock, i entered my email so i could know when the item was back in and roughly when to expect my order.
On their site anyone can do this, not only those who have placed an order.
Therefore although my order was placed before this, it means they got the item into stock and didnt send me mine!
So before you go accusing me of having the cheek to complain read all of the facts mate and realise they were in the wrong.
(Oh and ps, its spelt LAUGH you muppet)
I now see the divx player is double the price it was when i bought it so i think that goes some way to explaining why they didn't go out of their way to send it.
I imagine it would be much easier to get my hands on one now from Maplin
I have now cancelled the order and asked for my money back and after a week of doing this they finally responded to say the order is cancelled.
I will never order anything again from these guys and I would recommend the same to anyone else.0 -

No problems in the past. Paid for stuff, got stuff.
Once had a problem. I phoned up, they told me to bin the old item and sent me a new one asap.
Only problem I have with them are the prices.0 -
I've never had a problem with Maplin. I agree with unrich about the prices though.0
