Do I have to take out the insurance through Sky for their equipment, or do other companies cover it and is that OK with Sky?

Usually with Sky equipment if it breaks call them and they say £60 call out charge.
If you threaten to cancel they then waive the call out charge.
If your box is broken they replace it (this is also included in the £60 call out charge if you don't go for the free route).
The box will be a refurbished one though.
If its a standard box I would self insure as they are cheap enough on ebay.
My sky+HD box was only £179 brand new on ebay from an authorised sky dealer.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

You don't have to insure your sky equipment at all. We don't have insurance for ours because like Ben said, sky boxes are cheap enough to replace these days.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
