I was trying to create a data disc on my DVD RW.........every time I try it just hangs up. Not sure what is the problem.
Looking at the device manager, it says no problem.
Not sure , what to do next?
Please help.

Do you have two drives, on DVD reader, and one DVD-RW drive? If so always use the writer you created the disc with to read it, as sometimes, older readers have trouble with some RW formats.
Try the disc in other computer if you can. Other than that, it may be the disc may be faulty...0 -

Does it still read discs ?
Is this the first time you've tried to write to a disc ?
What program are you using to burn the disc ?
Have you checked that the disc format is compatable with the writer ( -R, +R, RW, DL, etc )
Have you checked for any firmware updates ( Be careful with this one - it can make the drive totally unusable )
How far does it get ? does it fail at the start, middle or end ?
Have you tried formatting the DVD RW ( might not have enough free space ? )
What make and model is the drive ?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

Try another disc but try this software http://cdburnerxp.se/
If that works it maybe a software issue with the software you were using and not a hardware problem
Used the software mentioned.........went half way through but endedup ''not responding''
Just wasted 3 discs.......not sure what is wrong0 -
You could try to uninstall the Hardware and then re-install.
Start, Run, type devmgmt.msc click OK, then expand DVD/CD devices then right click the device and click on Uninstall and then OK, and restart the PC and wait until it re-installs itself.
If you have Roxio software I did read a while back about some conflicts, but try the above first.
Uninstalling/re installing ........is it different in Vista?0 -
If you used RW disks then you did not waste them, they can be formatted again and used again once you sort out why you cannot write. DVD and CD RWs are notoriously temperamental.euglycaemia wrote: »Used the software mentioned.........went half way through but endedup ''not responding''

What make and model is the drive ? _NEC DVD+-RW ND-3560A
Are you sure it's a ND 3560A ? ( Can't find any reference to this drive on the NEC pages )
What DVD discs are you using ?
I think the suggestion of deleting the drive from the device manager and letting the system find it again is a good one.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
