Okay, after some persuasion, I installed ie7 on my pc. I had previously tried it on the kid's, decided I didn't like it, and removed it again. However, thought I'd give it another try....

Can anyone tell me WHY I can't use my scroll-wheel properly on pages displayed in ie7 ??? It keeps jumping a few lines, pausing, jumping, pausing, and it drove me nuts !! So, I've uninstalled it again, until maybe I can get some tips as to why this may happen..

So, any ie7 fans out there who may be able to tell me why, and what I could do to stop it happening if I re-install it ????

Any help appreciated.....:(

    Smooth scrolling might not be enabled but even so its not great;

    1.On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.2.On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Use Smooth Scrolling check box.3.Click OK, and then exit Internet Explorer.

    Hmmm...so even if you use that option, which isn't great, how much worse is it than ie6 ?? Will I be left still tearing my hair out ???

    I think it's more to do with your mouse and its drivers. I've got IE7 and it scrolls perfectly smoothly and completely proportional and precisely to the movement of the wheel (even switches to free wheeling with long pages), I've not changed the settings on IE7 at all in regard to browsing features. I use a Logitech MX Revolution. What mouse have you got and do you use the latest drivers for it?

  • Hi,

    NIce one guys, updated mouse driver and smooth-scrolling enabled, and that seems to have done the trick :)

    ...now, just need to see how I get on with the tabbed browsing lark :D.....

    Might be in:

    Start > Control Panels > Mouse > Scrolling tab

    then play with the vertical scrolling values.

    I seriously suggest you use IE7 over IE6 regardless of issues with your mouse.

    I understand what you guys are saying...fixed security glitches, etc., just don't know if I like it or not. Favourites replaced by stars, what's that all about then ?!?!?!?!???

    Anyway, updated mouse driver has sorted out the scrolling issue. We shall see if it lasts or not...as with others, it may be a case of come back ie6, all is forgiven ;)
