Tumble dryer vented

We have got a new tumble dryer today comes with a vented pipe thing. We have it in a large garage close to a window, but the pipe 1.5m just doesn't quite go through the window and thus the windows steams up. Now I dont really want to get a hole banged through the garage due to mess and effort. The tumble dryer is on a outside wall

So we have two choices either

1. Get a longer pipe (but it says in manual no higher than 20")

2. Get one of the vented things that collects the steam this one does take ice just water

Are they are good?

Thanks

  • I think they're great. Just have to empty it occasionally & clean the dust from the top vents. Not sure about buying cheap. I do like quality, you get what you pay for and all that. But take your choice:>)

Thanks so they do work fine without having to use ice blocks/cubes

I'm not convinced about the 20" thing. My ex had her ducting pipe through a normal 'chest height' window and it worked fine. At least with the venred method, you don't need to keep checking that is needs emptying. What about buying a clothes line?

We have a clothes line but the weather this year is has been diabolical. Hardly had one decent sunny day all year. Its rained most days or over cast, and often had to run outside and get the washing before they get soaked

I was just going to use it now and then not all time.
  • I can't seem to join the idea of a condensing box attached to the vent tube with ice cubes. Go for it:)

The one I showed above doesn't use ice

    It just says

JUST FILL WITH COLD WATER (NO ICE REQUIRED)
  • Hi,

is it not possible to use an extension cable, and take the tumble dryer nearer to the garage door when in use?
