I have Sky and on some of the channels (not all) the program keeps clicking and freezes frame for a second or two then comes back on - this tonight was happenning on 529 history channel - it is most annoying - sky say they don't know/think it's the satalite - but it must be - all I can think is to gfive up the service.

Is anyone else having these proplem?

is it possible your dish isn't correctly aligned?

but it's only on some channels (not all) and it has worked ok.

tbh it sounds like a glitch in transmission - Sky doesn't run news24 or History, they just pass it on. Maybe there's a booster in the line that isn't doing it's job properly. I'd maybe bug Sky to do an alignment on your dish, or replace your Sky box.

If a gust of wind has moved your dish slightly then what you are describing is what is likely to happen. If you are subscribed to sky I would suggest that you phone them up and cancel, when they ask why tell them your symptoms and that you cannot afford to have fix it. They are very likely to repair it FOC

But some channels are on different transponders, which change on occasions, some have a stronger signal than others.

I would say with 90% certainty that your dish needs a re-alignment.;)

I agree that the dish alignment is probably the prime suspect.

You can buy a basic satellite signal strength meter on ebay for about £10 so, if you are reasonably competent at DIY and can access the dish easily and safely, check it out.

Otherwise you might have to pay maybe £40+ for a professional to check and realign it for you.

Hmmm, quite a few I would say....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/news/index.shtml - See section "Why am I having problems..." dated 10th April.

It appears it could be the satellite dish alignment and / or due to the BBC moving the satellite signal for BBC news 24 etc. :o
