How do I secure my wireless network?

This is really doing my head in now! I know how to get to the security screen but once I have generated a key it locks me out and says that the wireless network has changed. D'oh, I know that - I bloody changed it!!!! Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong? I need to get this sorted as I am pretty sure someone else is using my network!

I have a Belkin router.

Thanks in advance.

The same key need to be entered into the router AND the connecting device. Use cop & paste.

At both ends of the wireless link i.e. the router and the PC.

Right, first of all, what security are you using? Is it WEP? WPA?

If it has WPA pick that as its a lot more secure than WEP.

With WPA you can have a passkey, make this a word you can remember.

When it is set in the router, go to your PC, and when it asks for security type in your passkey.

What version of windows are you using?

It does have WPA and I am running Vista. Does that have any bearing on what I need to do?

Right, go to your router and go to the security page:

    Should look like this:

    securityyg9.jpg

Where it says Pre shared key put in a word you will remember.

Now when you attempt to connect to your network, it will ask for a Passkey, type in the SAME word you typed into the router.

    Good luck.

Nope, still didn't bloody work! It says something like the "THE INFORMATION CONTAINED ON THIS COMPUTER DOES NOT MATCH THE ROUTER" It doesn't even give me the option to connect so that I could put in my password. Bloody technology!!!!!

    Any other suggestions?
