I have no idea if I'm supposed to be here...

or over there on the new thread...

    Oh well, I'm here now!

ssl - That is a strange coincidence, and twice in one week - I suggested a plant to dusty that she was thinking of having. I'd defintiely suggest having a good look around the neighbourhood and see what everyone has for hedging, or what grows naturally locally. Here in Kent, hawthorn and blackthorn are common in the wild, and just look 'right' as hedging. They are the main plants in the new hedge I planted over the Easter holiday. Today I was driving through a really rural part, and suddenly came across a house surrounded by evergreen laurel - it really stuck out, asall along the road was hawthorn, then birches and hazel, with masses and masses of bluebells. I was so busy looking at the plants that I nearly crashed a couple of times.

tia - I posted the picture of the Kilmarnock willow, but it is Pink Fairy who has it in her garden. It should be fine in a tub. I only have a small garden, but have a winter flowering cherry, and also a rowan with pink berries, and a paperbark maple that I planted far too close to the fence. It's the most expensive plant in the garden, and I planted it in the wrong place...

Have done no flying this weekend, but have finished washing all DD's stuff, and now ready to start on DS2's suitcxase, as he got back from Normandy yesterday. An hour and a half late, because there is a new scanner at Dover, to detect radiation, and the coaches set it off. They made all 150 children get off and scanned them individually, and scanned the coaches with hand held scanners, then decided that the children probably weren't radio active, and the equipment, all 125 million pounds of it, was faulty.

Pigpen :coffee: and a few more for anyone else :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee:

Any ideas about vacuums? We'd already changed the fuse, but DD's friend (She's and electrician) had a look and said ti could be loose wires, so I'll need to cut off the sealed plug and fit a new one. If I could have found one, she'd have done it while she was here for dinner.

Anyone fitted laminate flooring? Need some advice.

Yes, Tia, sorry, that's me with the Kilmarnock willow and it's looking as pretty as Serena's. My children bought it for me for Mother's Day this year as DD remembered my parents having one where they lived in Harlow.

re vacuums.. if in doubt.. I kick it.. I'd wiggle the wires about while it was turned on to see if it sparked into life..

Laminate flooring is one of the few things I've not done.. but it looks easy enough.. like lego!.. but flat!!

:rotfl:A girl after my own heart. I thought it was like a big jigsaw. I've got a problem though as I have a slope down into the sunlounge, so would need to lay in wrong direction. Should go towards the light, but that would mean I would really have a jigsaw across the length of the slope, whereas if I lay at right angles to the light, I could trim the edge off the boards on the slope and use coloured sealant to close the gap to those on the flat. we did our own laminate in the living room. It is simple enough in theory as the pieces are like a jigsaw, but could get a bit faffy around bits like door frames, radiators etc. DH luckily is very good with things like that.

We put new skirting board on at the same time as we had the room plastered and that made it look a lot neater. Otherwise it would not have sat quite right.

The technique was link on the short end, then link in the long side. DH found the shorter side of the piece could pop back out when the longer side was being put in, so i tried helping (about 7 month pregnant at the time, and not very helpful with it) but FIL helped him and they did it really quickly. It was mainly to hold the short side in place while the board was being tilted at 45 degrees for the long side to go in.

The packs we bought came with instructions anyway, and it looks good, and is really easy to clean, although it does show up pet hair/dirt really quickly.

hope some of that made sense and isn't just rambling.

If I have to get a new one, what do you recommend with 2 dogs, 2 cats, some carpet and going to have some laminate?

Sitting with my feet up now! Hoping someone will put the kettle on. I fancy a :coffee: Anyone want one?

Pink, if you want to go with another Dyson I would suggest the Dyson Animal Ball, it's brilliant if I must say so myself. I have it t and was rather sceptical but believe me it does what it is supposed to do and more. And the ball part makes it so much more easier to handle :)
