>> I suppose the worst they can do is say 'no' but I would feel such a failure.
Why? Have you never had an offer refused?
Maybe you should see a holistic therapist (I do't know what one is but sounds applicable).
Seriously it wouldn't be a failure. Maybe they make the wrong decision, maybe you don't present the opportunity very well - at least you'll know and maybe can learn something from it (ask for their reasons).
The only failure would be them accepting and you not delivering.0 -
nrsql - thanks for your valid comments. I intend to put together the most professional proposal I can based on relevant research and findings that would apply to my company (are you convinced yet.....?). You're right, they might say no but I'm sure I will have learned something that I can address next time.
I do hope they see the benefits though as massage is such a wonderful thing (if you're into it) and research has shown that....sorry....I'll save that for HR.
I know I am good at what I do, so if they go with the idea they won't be disappointed.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

suzy,
When I worked for Debenhams, they used to have a chirpodist (?) come once a month to do our feet as we stood all day long-we paid for it!!!!
But I think it's a brilliant idea xEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Urrrrgh.....feet is one thing I could not do. I don't mind doing them as part of the massage routine but they are usually people who take care of their bodies (hence coming for massage). I even tend to shy away from my own....:DYOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Thanks for your suggestions.
IA - I suppose the worst they can do is say 'no' but I would feel such a failure.
How specifically does their saying 'no' make you feel like a failure....?
What would happen if you could feel differently about it instead...maybe treating it as an opportunity to learn, to change your pitch, to find other outlets???
And if you're so sure they might say 'no'...how do you use that information positively to have counter arguments ready for their objections?!?
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

hi suzy su if they say no why don't you renew your insurance and advertise to do he therapy on your fridays off anyway it might lead to more things0

Ephemera - I suppose I'd feel a failure because I desperately need to find a way of making some decent extra money and I would not have achieved this (at least not at my first attempt). Having said that, I could go elsewhere on my Friday's off (but would only be able to work 2 out of 4 Fridays). It would be so ideal to work within my own company but we'll see. I need to get some facts and figures together and go for it!
Themagics - as above, I think this is a good idea and will keep it in mind.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Def give it a go. If they say no, ask if you can offer a discount for employees on the intranet, or staff notice boards instead. That way, you could offer 20% discount, say, to staff but they come to you in their own time with no need to involve the company, other than having their approval for you to advertise.

Thanks Hypno....excellent idea. I'm not sure when to broach the whole thing here at work as I know pay rises are being discussed (disgust.....? choose which ever spelling suits...) and I don't want to jeopardise that. We don't get told until the end of June and I don't know if I can wait that long - I'm not the most patient of people.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
