I have a 28inch panasonic TV and on the remote i can if i have a compatable VCR direct record a programme. Meaning i can press just one button to record, it direct links. Now i have a Hitachi VCR that has Video Link on it, but i can't seem to direct record on it..anyone know why? Or does anyone know where i can get an online manual for the VCR to see if a bit is missing for the external link?
The video i have is Hitachi FX98OE

is the correct scart socket on the TV linked to the scart on the VCR with a fully wired scart?
Also is the JVC version compatible(i.e. the manual on some Panasonic models only shows compatibility with Grundig/Sony and Phillips systems)0 -

Yep there is two scart sockets on the VCR, one black and one Light Blue, i have the scart running from TV to the black scart socket on the VCR
In my TV manual it says to use the Q_Link feature the VCR needs to be compatable..it says..
TV must be connected to a recording device with the Q_link, Nextviewlink, Datalogic, Easy Link, Megalogic or Smartlink
Does that mean VideoLink will not work?
You see at the moment i cannot record from my VCR but i can watch Videos
