I have a dilemma
I have a PC connected to main tv and various other bits. Its also connected via coaxial to Yamaha surround sound amp. It has 1 coaxial and 2 optical inputs
The Pc only has coaxial (on board came with mobo) and dvd only has that too so I can only use one or the other for surround sound
So I was thinking, shall I get a new sound card or one of those convertors that you can plug to main that converts coaxial to optical
Problem is I am short on sockets
Can anyone recommend a reasonable cheap 5.1 surround sound card that has optical output.
Thank you

I have a slightly daft optic question about about SPDIF; my Dell 1720 claims to have SPDIF output but doesn't appear to have a port for it only analogue for the headphone/speaker 3.5mm jack. In that case would it come out the s-video? Excuse my ignorance...0

nope.
SP/Dif doesn't necessarily imply optical. It can be via phono, over coax and can be converted down to a 3.5mm-style jack to save space, like some mp3 players have. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
