Final bill has been received on estimated reading since I have switched over to another supplier. Can dispute this and demand on meter reading or should I just pay it?

No, dispute it. You should have the correct reading and your old supplier should have something in place to enter your reading and issue a new bill.0

Do you have a meter reading to replace the estimate? If so they should take it. If not you can't really insist on a reading - it's a bit late.0

I thought that when you changed supplier you had to supply your new supplier with a meter reading. Or maybe the new supplier takes the reading. Either way there must be one.0 -
Hi I just changed to E-on from NPower. E-on took an opening reading from me which i gave them, and they sent this reading to Npower to close the account and I have just received my final bill from them. Shouldn't think they could use estimates to either open or close an account.0

As other posts ... you're supposed to supply final readings (on the transition date they specify) to your new supplier.
They then supply these to your old supplier (for the final bill) .... and use them for your opening account with the new supplier.
But a bit tricky if you didn't take readings? And nothing much left to do other than negotiate acceptable estimates. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Hi burringham, I'll move this to the 'Gas & Elec' Board
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
I gave reading to both suppliers on the same day to ensure they were the same, and so far the gas has come through correct - let's see if they get the electric right too.0

Is the estimated read high or low?
The same read will be used by your new supplier so it won't make much of a difference, but if you moved coz your new supplier was cheaper, and the read was high you'd save (a bit of) money by asking them to correct it. Either supplier will be able to initiate it.0 -
Thank you all, I have never have to read my electricity meter as it can be read through the small glass panel from out side. Also none of the supplier asked me to obtain meter reading.0
