I've been looking for a monitor for my sons Xbox 360 .
Budget ....about £200
I'm happy to use quidco if possible.
The two I'm trying to chose between are
LG 22" M228WA HD Ready Widescreen LCD TV Monitor
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3348756/-/Product.html?sp=1&dpr=117026#

or this one
Samsung SM2232BW - 22" Widescreen TFT Monitor
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/product.php?sku=086906&camp_id=OfferoftheDay

So Which one and why ...or something better for about the same kind of price.
Thanks in advance

The LG will work as it has a DVI port and HDCP

    HOWEVER

You will only get a picture, no sound as DVI only does video not audio, im not sure on xbox if you can set the sound to a different output but i know on the PS3 you can. If you are using optical out for your sound system you should have no problems. I dont know if you can use the normall compositive cables just for audio as i sold my xbox ages ago.

The sammy is nice, cant see much details on it though sorry.

EDIT: If you go to settings can you see any options to change to HDMI and to change sound to Composite? Will it let you use both?

    Cheers for that .
I've had a look on the settings and not much help really .
The HDMI settings can only be accessed when connected to a suitable monitor .
Sound gives me options for 5:1 etc .... no mention of composite .
On the LG reviews someone has said he just plugged his old PC speakers into the monitor as the built in speakers were garbage ...I was hoping to do the same ...
The samsung is nice looking and works out at £199 delivered plus £5.00 quidco .
Just cocerned that it will be a pain to connect .
This monitor will still be connecting to a PC ..Does that change your opinion ?

The problem is not with the speakers in the monitor, its the way to get the sound from the xbox to the monitor so u can use the speakers, DVI will only do video so unless you can find some way to have the sound output via Optical or compositive . The best option would be to go for a TV, my sister has the 19" sammy, looks identical to the sammy in your piccy apart from it has a HDMI connector so u can connect HDMI devices.

EDIT: Also you want to make sure it has 2 ports so you can connect your PC to it.

I have a Sammy 940bw connected up to my PS3 and PC and it works lovely. The sound goes out via the standard cables to my audio system and the DVI takes the video to the Monitor

Dont think so, VGA is analogue DVI is digital and DVI has HDCP VGA does not. Still does not solve your problem with the sound getting to the speakers.

I think it's going be the LG
The xbox we have has a HDMI output and the LG has a HDMI input so should be a simple plug and play for the High-def....
If I do this will it have any effect when i plug the PC in ?

Nope as long as you still have a DVI or VGA port in the LG.

Can you tell me where it says HDMI?
