Problems with desktop view in Safe boot

I am just going through the malware removal process detailed in the Techie section on here. It was all going well until i restarted in Safe mode as described.
On re start i was missing the left hand side of my desktop, including the start button and all my desktop icons?? I cant find how to change this to normal view?? I had to do a forced shut down using the on/off button and then system restore to get access to the icons etc again.
Can anyone advise what i can do to resolve this please.

You may need to press the auto adjust button on your monitor, or you may need to adjust it manually using the controls on the front/side.- Google is your friend, use it :rolleyes:0
