my sons connection to our network has gone - i have been trying and trying but just cannot sort it out....i phoned a helpline for his computer and was told to check in the device manager to check what network adaptors were installed - i found;

VIA RHINE II FAST ETHERNET ADAPTER.....

he said was fine but, we were meant to be looking for wlan...

he asked if it was in other devices - but, in other devices it says unknown device with a yellow warning triangle which when opened says no driver installed.....i was told to press re-install driver which i did and got;-

windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it....FUJITSU SIEMENS COMPUTERS WLAN - driver is not intended for this platform.....

aaaarghghgh - the helpline is now shut and i cannot fath this out...any help please?

he is running vista whereas our pc which i am networking from is xp using belkin g+ mimo (i have one of them adaptor things with it but have tried installing to give this a go but no luck)....

my daughters laptop which is xp is working fine..........

also when i just try connecting striaght to the connection of pc it wont work either - just keeps saying i have no connection....

    specifically, what computer does he have (inc model number)
    one thing to try, after replying, is back to device manager and remove the unknown device, then either F5, or ideally reboot

    xp driver
    vista driver
    the only LA amlio i could see was the 1703, i hope this is correct. ideally connect the pc via ethernet (wire), download and install the appropriate driver, bob's your uncle, else copy the driver to flashdrive/cd from another pc and try
