nelly- i dont think they could even begin to argue that it is out of warranty with or without reciept it has only been sale in this country fro about 2/3months
They wont argue that. they will argue that he has no proof of buying it from argos.
smashed- you dont need a reciept you need proof of purchase. this guy paid cash. where is his proof?0 -
Sorry. Didnt see that he paid cash. Scanned the thread and saw somebody mentioning cards..Be nice0

I took back dvd recorder £120 without the reciept and just told them the time and date I bought it and I got the money back. (it was orignally for 150 etc plus i got £10 voucher which i gave back.)0

Surely all items that come from Argos have the catalogue number stuck on them so this should help convince them that it came from there.
Otherwise you could always be a little bit naughty and buy another one, then return your existing item with the new receipt saying you don't want it as it is used and broken (this does happen as I bought an NW-HD1 from argos and it was obviously used and had someone else's tunes on it).
Not sure of the legality of this (could technically be fraud, but then you are returning an item that is still under warranty to the store you bought it from)0 -
Like Baz says - they all have the catalogue number stuck on the box - I've taken a few things back without the receipt to Argos and have always either changed it or given me credit vouchers.0

cat number isnt proof.
some lines get sold from catalogue bargain stores, or are stolen. they may well have the number on
if you can prove the time you bought it, they can check the stock movements on the computer and check the time and date0 -
If you do have a problem instore, you can do one of two things.; You can call Customer service with the date and store of purchase(if you can remember). They made be able to provide you with a duplicate receipt. The store may be able to do the same thing.
So, rack your brains to enable yourself to remember the date of purchase.0 -

why does he even have to talk to argos??? its under warranty just go straight to sony - i think thats what id do, what are argos gonna be able different to what the OP can other than getting a replacement immediately?0 -
The responsibility for faulty goods lies with the retailer not the manufacturer (despite what companies like Dixons or Comet try to tell you otherwise
