Sony NWHD5

Hi I need some help RE a sony NWHD5 I got from Argos about 10 weeks ago. The problem is it will not put any songs on it any more and I can not find the receipt for it. So I need some help. What are my rights as I do not have a receipt.

Hi dm042455. How did you pay? if it was by debit/credit card then your bank/credit card statement is ok as proof of purchase. A cheque stub is ok too I think.

Have you got the box and everything? You could try taking it back in its box and a bag etc and explain the situation, maybe forgetting to state how many weeks youve had it - they might be nice??

I aquired something once that I did not want, so took it in without a reciept or anything and managed to get Argos vouchers back in return to the complete value.

    :)

edit - but of course this is a bit different, i.e. wasn't broken
  • Make sure you haggle a lot if they start refusing because if you don't they will just walk over you.

    Try reading the manual.

Most faults are not real faults, just people not using the equipment correctly.

I have spent several years repairing hi-tech consumer goods, and most problems should be sorted by phoning help desk for the product.

    Ring Sony as mentioned earlier.

My brother took back a torch to Argos a few weeks ago. No receipt and he'd paid cash too. Argos refused to give him an exchange or refund so he phoned their customer service dept and really nice lady told him to go back and she would phone ahead telling them to give him an exchange..Sure enough he got another torch. I'd try this if they don't help instore.

Contact Sony directly, their service is excellent and a lot less hassle than argos! Only thing is you may have to send it off for repair (free if still under warranty) but I had to do that with a Sony product and had it back within 5 days.
Treat others as you would like to be treated :A
  • i dont think they could even begin to argue that it is out of warranty with or without reciept it has only been sale in this country fro about 2/3months

YOu do not need to provide a receipt for faulty goods within your rights.
    Check the consumer pages.

Furthermore, even if you did, legally you just need to show that you bought it from the shop using your card statement. Stores ask for the receipt, but they would be breaking the law to refuse you a refund if you could prove you bought something from the shop using your statements.

I cant remember the exact terms, but I know that it is a fact
    Be nice
