Hi
Before anyone says I have tried searching their site and others but I'm a bit confused. My home phone is with BT and i need to know how much it will cost to call my girlfriend who is in spain on her mobile. She is on orange contract if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance

Check out the Call Checker on the blue bar above the board and you will find the cheapest for landline and mobiles in Spain.

If you call her in Spain you will just pay the normal cost of a mobile call on BT (you can't be expected to know someone you are calling is overseas so they can't increase the price), however she will pay something exorbitant like £1 a minute for receiving your call.
You would be better off getting her to find a payphone which tells you it's number on it and then call that while she waits near or get her to call you from a spanish landline.0 -
It depends on the Orange tariff your girlfriend is using? For some tariffs she will be charged 30p per minute for receiving calls while in Spain.
The cost of calling her mobile number from BT will depend on which network your girlfriend's number has been allocated to? If the number has never been ported from another network then BT will charge :
13.60p per min Mon-Fri 06:00-1800 Daytime
11.40p per min Mon-Fri 18:00-0600 Evening
6.00p per min Sat-Sat Weekend
If her number has been ported from another network BT will charge their mobile rate for the network the number was orginally allocated at the outset.
BT's mobile charge codes are:
fm1 for Cellnet/O2 numbers
fm3 for One2One/T-Mobile numbers
fm4 for Orange numbers
fm5 for Vodafone numbers
fm6 for 3 numbers
For all BT's charges see www.bt.com / View all services / Home phone services / view more>> / Pricing / Pricing information / Calls to mobiles0 -
Gizmoleeds's suggestion of getting your girlfriend to call from a landline is a good one - if this is not possible, you could use an international phonecard where your girlfriend calls a freephone number from the payphone (so no cash is needed) and then calls you.
There are hundreds, one available is with http://www.telesave.co.uk -set up a free account from your landline (call 0800 066 4000, £10 credit needed) and then email or telephone telesave to set up the Traveller service. They'll give you a PIN code. Your girlfriend can then use Spanish freephone number 800 099796 from any landline, enter the PIN code and call back to the UK for just around 6p/min, or around 11p/min from a payphone (a higher amount is charged due to the Spanish payphone company imposing a surcharge). The website explains it better than me.0
