Insurance to cover animal illness/death?

Firstly this is not in the wrong listing. My question is I have saved for 10 years to go to Oz & am looking to go through Dec/Jan 2007/8 but I have not booked anything because I am trying to find if there is an insurance out there that would cover cancellation etc (general insurance cover) if either of my dogs died or was in a situation where I needed to cancel the holiday.
My dogs are part of my family & I know with insurance if anything happened to mum, dad, bro's, sis etc I would be able to cancel/curtail my holiday so why can this option not apply to the rest of my family.
Any help gratfully received.

I doubt it. Animals simply aren't part of your family, as important as they are to you. I don't think insurers would want to put themselves in the position of having people claiming they had to cancel their holiday because their dog was ill.
I suspect your choices are don't go on the holiday, be prepared to incur the cost of cancellation or curtailment yourself or put adequate arrangements in place for the care of your pets.
I hope someone comes along to prove me wrong though!0 -
Thank you david for your kind words...It is as I thought but I thought it was worth a try asking a descent forum, a very serious question on my part.
Thanks again.KIND REGARDS
