British Gas Actual Reading - I Dont Think So!!

I have just received a bill for Jan to April quarter which is obviously for the last 6 months not 3.
To explain British Gas state Oct to Jan reading at 69 units used (actually read) and Jan to April at 750 units used (again actually read)
I can prove from my previous 3 years Scottish Power bills that this should actually have been a split across the 2 quarters, ie. 400 ish units used in each quarter.
My question is this ..... Can I request that British Gas actually bill me for 400 of these units at the pre-increased price of last year as the prices went up on Jan 18th and I am having to pay all of these units at the new price even though I can prove that 400 were used at the old price ???

When you got your bill in January, did you check the reading yourself?
I'm sorry if I'm reading this wrong, but I don't see how old bills prove what you have used recently.
You can but try and see if they will accept this as a pattern of usage, but for all they know, you may have been out of the house Oct-Jan.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
In essence you are disputing that the Jan reading was an actual read.
Why did BG not send you a bill in January for Oct - Jan?
What date in Jan was the actual read?
There will normally be an entry for the period to Jan 18(date of rise) with an estimated reading on that date. e.g. 01 Jan - 18 Jan meter reading xxxx(E) units used yy - 19 Jan - 31 March meter reading zzzz units used xxxx
For all their dreadful accounting systems BG are not crooks.
Whilst you cannot 'prove anything' by previous years bills, if you call them and explain the situation they will probably accept your apportionment of the units used.0 -
i phoned bg yesterday over the apportionment of units used since the price increase in feb on my mothers bill, and successfully argue my point using pattern of usage etc ring them they do listen to reason .
but on another matter i moved gas to bg on ce4 in january just checked my account online a bill generated on april 14 which i have not received shows my tariff as standard the cheeky beggars ,other people ought to check theirs
just in case0 -
Did you change suppliers in October? If so perhaps the start read of your account was higher than it should have been. Then when it was billed to the actual read in January it would look like little was used.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
