Life insurance after heart attack?

Hi all.
My father suffered a heart attack last saturday, fortunately this was caught and treated early with angioplasty, and a stent fitted to the affected artery. The doctors were delighted with his recovery (he was back home within 48 hours) and only 1 artery was effected, the other's are fine, doctors say his heart may return to full 100% functionality within 6 weeks. My father is 46 and until before the heart attack was a smoker, needless to say he has now quit. He drinks very rarely (1-2 units per week at the very most) and is within the reccomended weight for his height.
What is the best option regarding taking out a new life insurance policy in a situation like this? Does anybody know of any companies that specialize in such areas? My father already has a life insurance policy, and was going to be taking out more cover even before this happened, it just came at an unfortunate time.
Thanks in advance, all help is appreciated.
Fraser.

hi, first of all dont cancel the existing policy. Speak with an ifa, i know AIG and Friend provident may the best to approach but giving it has not long happened, they will prob need to wait a year, before they will insure.

See an IFA. There are specialist companies that will cover high risk individuals like your father. However, he should expect a premium that reflects his high risk.

His existing life policy may have guarnateed insurability options on it which he may be able to activate.
