Anybody using 123-reg.co.uk?

Options
Hello all

Is anybody out there using the services of 123-reg.co.uk?

If so, which services (e.g. domain registration, website building, hosting) are you using and would you recommend them?

They look okay to me on the website so I am thinking of using them, but I'm a bit of a novice at all this so any advice/experiences appreciated.

Cheers! :)

if you only require a domain name
    and dataflame.co.uk for hosting

Been with both for about 3 years. Dataflame support is best ive seen while oneand one support is fairly poor but domains are very very cheap

As other's say there are cheaper alternatives out there. I have used 123-reg.co.uk for both domain registration and hosting. Very simple to set up and easy to use.

I can't comment on the support as I haven't had a need to use them in the 9 months I have been with them.

    cheers

Thanks for the replies - I'll have a look at the sites you both mention.

Anyone else out there with experience of 123-reg?

  • I use 123-reg for .co.uk domains (mainly because of all the functions you have in the control panel - never seen any other provider give you so much control) - wouldn't touch them for hosting though, you can get it much cheaper elsewhere.

For .com/.net etc I use fxdomains.com, they are the cheapest I've found so far - around £4 per year, which is less than half the price 123-reg charge for them.

Agree, provide a commodity service at a cost effective rate - I use them for .com domains - certainly when I bought mine they were cheapest, indeed only a smidgin more than they'd have to be paying Verisign to actually register it.

Don't use them for hosting so can't comment; I've always found the free space provided by my ISP sufficient.

I use it for email forwarding, as I used to be with pipex and they seemed good value at the time. I have two domains, and use one as my main email name.
My experience of it is that none of my emails have been lost, and in fact all are forwarded almost instantaneously. No problem at all.

I use them for domain names but not hosting. I'm only using my ISP provided webspace at the moment. Probably use macoman for hosting. They've got a good reputation and quite cheap.

Thanks everyone. 123-reg certainly sound like a good bet for domain registration, I think I'll maybe shop around a bit more for hosting, although I don't mind paying a little more than the absolute minimum if it means I get a better service.
