Not receiving my Electric Bill...advice please!
We are with British Gas (for our electric) and usually get a quarterly bill which we pay online (not direct debit). However, we have not received a bill since November 2007, so have not paid for our electric for five months...and counting.
Due to the shocking telephone customer help line it is impossible to talk to anyone at the company.
Is it our place to be chasing them to bill us or is it British Gas's problem? What will the state of play be if we carry on as we are but get slapped with a huge bill months down the line?
(incase this makes a difference, we live in rented accomodation and landlord has apparently had issues with previous tennant bills).
Any comments/advice etc greatly appreciated.
Thank you

From what I've read on here, they can't go back more than 12 months.
But if they bill you 11.5 months after your last bill then you will have to pay.
So, your best bet would be to take regular readings yourself, then if the rate changes you know what you have used at what rate and based upon your last bill, put money aside to pay.
British Gas (electric) skipped a bill for me last year also, I did not get one in October, but one arrived at the end of February.
If you would rather pay as you go, then write to them and keep a copy.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I'm in a similar position with Southern Electric who supply both my gas and electric but they did inform me on their last bill (in Nov 2007) that in future bills will be supplied on a 6 months basis. Might be worth checking the small print on your last bill.

ALWAYS, always set aside the money. A high interest savings account would do it, at least you will not get a shock (ha ha!) when the bill finally arrives.
Personally, I would leave it and see what happens. If they don't want to invoice you, more fool them!
If it runs unbilled for over a year, then anything over a year is uncollectable. i.e. they do not bill for 15 months, then 3 of those months. Not to be confused with not receiving a bill for 366 days and you only pay 1 day! That is absolutely definitely not the case.0 -
thanks for that guys, appreciated0
