Washing Machine Plumbing Advice

Despaired of my Hotpoint WM so have just bought a Miele which I love but!!!
When it is on it's fastest spin (1400) water comes back up the upright pipe the drain hose feeds into and leaks into the cuboard. Have tried it with and without the curved end bit on the drain hose and further in and out of the drain pipe but it still happens (and at least that was one thing that didn't happen with the Hotpint!) I have also cleaned out all of the drain pipes as far as I could disconnect and put Mr Muscle drain unblocker down. The only difference I can see is that the drain hose is a bit shorter - on my old WM it went down the back of the machine then came back up - on this one the hose is more or less a straight line from w/m drain to pipe.
Any advice please?
Thanx

It sounds like the WM is syphoning the water back up the waste pipe - this shouldn't happen if the vertical waste pipe is open to the air, and the drain pipe doesn't form an airtight seal in the pipe. I think the clue here is the shorter pipe - you can buy an extension pipe and connector to lengthen the existing drian pipe, so you can make the pipe follow the the path the old one did."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Check the installation instructions. Is the height of the drain pipe enough? Is the diameter big enough? Both these points will be covered in instructions. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Good job I asked as I was thinking of trying to find a way of sealing the pipe in!!!
Right, this is all Greek to me so..... instruction book says
'machine drains via a drain pump with a delivery head of 1m. For a delivery head of more than 1m upto max of 1.8m a second duo drain pump is available'
The top of the pipe is 84cm from the ground??????If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

That means the pump can raise water up to a height of 1m. The pump won't be operating during the spin cycle."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

So should the drain hose go down from the outlet, clip at the bottom of the machine and then back up into the standpipe? If that is what is supposed to happen the the drain hose is far too short. It doesn't specify what diameter the stand pipe needs to be but drain hose moves easily inside the down pipe - just done some more washing and it happened again on a 1200 spin but on the final spin

Most machines I have used need a standpipe about 80cm+ above ground level. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

bryanb mine is above that (84cm) Thanks for the advice everyone. Am now wondering if it's a problem with the drain as did another couple of washloads and drained into the sink. Most water seems to come out prior to the spin when the pump empties the machine - the sink filled up pretty quickly and didn't drain away that fast so that could be why. I've cleaned out as much as I can detach but may need to ask the plumber to have a look when he comes to finish off the bathroom (did find some concretey stuff in the pipes which I think may have come from washing out the tile cutter and the grout pots in the sink :A thought it would all wash away)

If the drain was blocked up, the waste pipe would overflow each and every time the drum was emptied, i.e end of wash cycle, end of each rinse cycle, it would not just happen on spin cycle."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
