Recommend an economical car for £3K.
Without really looking too much into it I bought a 1.8 5Dr Ford Focus. It's not a bad car but it only gets 32 MPG. It's almost as though I can see the needle moving as I'm driving.
Next time around I want to buy a very fuel efficient car. I'm only looking to pay about £3 - 3.5K. A search on the Internet seems to only have much information on MPG for new cars.
Obviously a brand new car is out my price bracket. I want something that's about 5 years old. What should I get?

take a look on www.parkers.co.uk for mpg figures for cars. In your price range, if you are looking for a similar sized car, the HDi range of Peugeots & Citroens are economical and well specced.
Otherwise, an older Tdi Golf or Seat will last for years,If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
If you need something slightly larger, search for an Asrta 1.7 Eco4 - underrated and very economical capable of near 90mpg on an economy Lands End John O Groats run.
This answer may also vary with your mileage...
dont forget -
a) what are the service intervals?
b) how much is the service?
c) how much are parts?
d) what is the insurance costs?
e) what is the tax cost?
f) what is the fuel cost (you could find an LPG converted car)
All of these impact on the decision - dont blinker to mpg.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

The car I have now is stupidly big for what I need it for so I'm definetly looking for a smallish 3dr car.0
