Changing websites

I wonder if anyone can help - DH and I have a small business and therefore have a website, which is up for renewal on tuesday. We currently have one of these instant sites with 123-reg but the renewal price is much more expensive and has less features than if we were a new customer with them. From what I can see we'd be paying nearly twice the price and would have to pay an extra £40 for the extras that come free to new customers (but then I am very pregnant and have developed porridge for brains, so I could be completely wrong :rolleyes2 )

We're both completely clueless when it comes to these things! Are we able to take our domain name to another provider to get the best deals (a bit like porting your mobile phone number to a different provider to get the best price and phone?)

If this is the case, can you please tell me which are the best website providers and can cater for complete techno-idiots like DH and I.

Please help a clueless woman out!
Many thanks

Kerry

Yes its called pointing name servers to another hosting account.
  • I used to use a company called https://www.hosting-unlimited.net

I only went away from them as I found something cheaper, which I later found out that I paid for what I got.

I am now considering returning to them with my websites, 4 of them, as they gave fast service, even at 3am once! and had about 2 days downtime in several years! (Which was planned)

If you had a backup of your site you could register your site, with HU and then just upload your files via FTP.

The owners of the company know about web hosting and have been in the business for a long time and I'm sure they'd give you all the help you needed, they have a ticketing system on their support section for help tickets.

    Hope this helps :)

    Hi

I use https://www.fuzioned.com and they are a small outfit with excellent customer service. I was recommended to them via MSE in the first place when they were called macoman. Usually if I need help the reply to support is pretty instant.
