Mint offer me 6.9% life of balance offer

Hi all,

I used to have a permanent balance on my mint card, but after i paid it off i've been spending loads on it every month, but always paying it off in full. I've done this for 3 months now and today i've got a letter from Mint with a 6.9% life of balance transfer offer. Is this a reasonable life of balance rate? I don't really want to apply for another card for about 3 months or so and i do have a balance which needs shifting shortly.

It's not a bad offer, but obviously depends on things like whether they will charge you a transfer fee etc... I'd call them and see if you can negotiate any lower - there's no harm in trying and they want to keep your business after all...they can only say "no"

Look at it this way, 6.9% isn't much more than the best personal loan rates around, and with it being a credit card you've got flexibility in how much you want to pay each month rather than fixed. You may as well transfer to this and then transfer again if a better deal comes up in a few months time (though if you're after a life of BT deal remember the Texaco deal is about to end).
